The Hankook Tire group is a South Korean tire company. Based in Seoul, South Korea, the Hankook Tire group is the 7th largest tire company in the world. Established in 1941 as the chosen tire company, it was renamed to Hankook Tire Manufacturing in 1968. Hankook manufactures tires for passenger cars, light trucks (SUVs, RVs, etc.), trucks, buses, and motorsports.


Maxxis was founded in Taiwan in 1967, and is one of the largest tire companies in the world. Maxxis distributes its products in approximately 170 countries. Maxxis manufactures tires for cars and light trucks, bicycles, motorcycles, ATVs, trailers, karts, and lawn and garden care.


Michelin is a French company started in 1889 by two brothers Andre and Edouard Michelin. Its US Headquarters are in Greenville, South Carolina. Today Michelin is one of the two largest tire manufacturers in the world. Michelin designs, manufactures and sells tires for every type of vehicle, including airplanes, automobiles, motorcycles, bicycles, earthmovers, farm equipment, heavy-duty trucks, motorcycles and the space shuttle.


Nexen, Korea’s first tire company, was established in 1942 and produced its first car tires in 1956. The company’s forward-looking philosophy inspired the name Nexen, which was created by combining two future-oriented words “next” and “century.” Nexen manufactures tires for passenger cars, trucks, and SUVs.


Nitto Tires is known for their high-performance radial tires. With a perfect balance of performance and practicality, Nitto tires are designed for a smooth ride on the street or in competition. Nitto manufactures tires for passenger cars, light trucks, SUVs, drag racing and road racing.


Yokohama tire company was started in Japan in 1917. Its headquarters are located in Tokyo, Japan and was started because of a partnership between the American tire company BF Goodrich and Yokohama Cable Manufacturing. Yokohama manufactures tires for passenger cars, performance cars, light trucks, SUV’s and also makes competition tires.


BF Goodrich, a popular brand name of tires is actually owned by the Michelin tire company. The Goodrich Corporation sold the tire business and use of the name to Michelin in 1988. BF Goodrich makes tires for all types of vehicles including tuner cars, sports cars, passenger cars, SUVs, Sport Trucks, Pickup Trucks and off road vehicles. BF Goodrich even provides tires to professional racing teams.


Bridgestone is a Japanese company founded by Shojiro Ishibashi. The headquarters are located in Tokyo, Japan. As of January 2009, Bridgestone is the largest tire manufacturer in the world. Bridgestone manufactures tires for automobiles, motorcycles, aircrafts, race cars, vans, trucks, buses and off road vehicles.


Continental is the fourth largest tire manufacturer in the world after Bridgestone, Michelin and Goodyear. It was started in Hanover, Germany in 1871 manufacturing only rubber. Continental makes tires for many companies including VW, Ford, Volvo, BMW, GM, Toyota, Honda and Porsche. Continental entered the US in 1987 after purchasing the American tire company General Tire. Its US headquarters are in Lancaster County, SC. Continental manufactures tires for passenger vehicles, motorcycles, light trucks and commercial vehicles.


Falken Tire was launched in Japan in 1983 and introduced to the North American market two years later. Falken has become a well-known brand that focuses on Ultra High Performance products while utilizing professional motorsports to further develop and improve products for worldwide distribution. Falken serves as the Official Truck Tire of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross series.


The Firestone Company was started in 1900 in Akron, Ohio. It was one of the largest suppliers of tires for three quarters of a century along with Goodyear its rival. Henry Ford even chose Firestone tires for the model T in 1906. In 1988 Bridgestone bought Firestone. Firestone manufactures tires for passenger vehicles, light and medium trucks, and performance vehicles


Frank A. Seiberling founded Goodyear in 1898 in Akron, Ohio. In 1912 the first Goodyear blimp made its debut. In 1970 the Apollo 14′s MET had Goodyear tires, the first tires on the moon. Today Goodyear is the third largest tire company in the world. Goodyear manufactures tires for passenger cars, motorcycles, commercial trucks, light trucks, SUV’s, racecars, and airplanes.
